I was confused at the beginning of the book because there was a phrase that said something like: if you don't have any experience with M/s relationships to put the book down, get some experience, and then come back to reading the book. It confused me because I thought the book was for those with limited experience with M/s or wanted to read more about it to gauge if they were on track on not. I have limited experience with M/s relationships and decided to continue reading the book.The book does seem geared towards those new to M/s versus those without any experience at all. The author provided great food for thought, examples, and wrote in a conversational tone. I realized I'd been doing some of the things already suggested in the book and felt good about not being completely clueless. I say that knowing each M/s relationship is its own, though some things should be standard such as communicating, negotiating, finding someone compatible, how to help the relationship thrive, etc.Aside from the initial put-off, I found the book engaging and informative. I would recommend it to those new to M/s.
Master/slave Mastery is an amazing foundational writing, for anyone who seeks to more deeply understand the differences between D/s and M/s relationships. Do you want to craft a dynamic M/s relationship? Do you want to have a clear understanding of the tools and mindset/heartset (yes, that’s a new word, I do that), to make it sustainable and magical? This book is useful to help define who and what you are, so as to aid you in getting to where you would like to go. Master? Dom? Leatherfolk? Submissive? Slave? Within Master/slave Mastery, one is given a poignant picture of the cost, means and rewards of doing/building/viewing structured relationships correctly (i.e. purposefully and thoughtfully). Yes, the content delineates many paths, yet a solid set of tools necessary to A/all for success, in this worthwhile yet tricky endeavor. This text is written with clarity, heart, wisdom, understanding, and grace. Thank you, Dr. Robert J. Rubel and M. Jen Fairfield for the roadmap and key, they are sure to illuminate this girls journey!
Not a book written for everyone. Don't let the title fool you. This is a legal, consent only adult topic that allows for the needs of power structure in sexual relationships to occur in a realistic and balanced fashion. Defining what many authors on the topic of BDSM gloss over, this book is definitive and doesn't shy away from the facts.
Reading it now, there's a lot of what he said in his previous book but a lot of new info that he's learned since that book came out.
Just finished reading this book and it is a great starting point in learning about the M/s dynamic. I would highly encourage anyone that is contemplating the M/s dynamic to read it. I also love that there is a self discovery element to it. Well written and easy to read.
I would encourage anyone that is considering or currently in a Master/slave relationship to read this book. It is a great discussion on personal relationships as well as thoughts to consideration on enhancing our individual paths. This is now one of my first go to books.

Haven't finished the book yet but making my way too that point. It is a great clarification and resource to certain ideals of the lifestyle. Answered a lot of questions and confusion before and suspect will do more. Also has an element of self help to individuals figure out if this is what they want and what they want from it.
