I'm really enjoying the new Sailor Moon manga releases! It's very faithful to the original material. Long gone are the generic English names the characters have been cursed with the last decade and a half. Finally, you can read about Usagi, ChibiUsa, Minako, etc Also, they are referred to as Guardians/Senshi and not the silly 'scout' nonsense.Volume #6 begins with the third storyline in the series. Which centers around the very popular 'Outer' Senshi! Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna & Hotaru.. also known as Sailor Uranus, Neptune, Pluto & Saturn! The story line and dialogue is so fun, and it's all printed in right to left format like the way a manga should be read. The paper used in this re-release is a lot nicer than the cheap photo copy like paper they used in the first English manga ten years a go or so. Gone are the dark deep ink and cheap pages that would tear out easily. If you're an old devoted Sailor Moon fan like myself, you will definitely enjoy this new translation. The manga is very affordable too on Amazon.com, so, if you have any doubts considering there are a lot of negative reviews on this re-release. But it's all mostly biased opinions, read the manga for yourself for a faithful take on Sailor Moon that I thought we would never see here in the USA!I have already re-read my copies more than once, and I'm always eagerly anticipating the next volume!Big kudos to Kodansha! :)
One of the coolest story arcs in the sailor moon mangas (if you like the whole Sailor Saturn arc) I can read it over and over again. A must have for fans
This volume of Sailor Moon is smack-dab in the middle of the renewal editions and brings us level with the start of the Sailor Moon S arc of the original anime. As always, just when Usagi and the other Sailor Senshi think they can finally relax, a new evil arrives. People have begun to de-evolve into daimons and attack innocent people - and what is this mysterious new prep school that is suddenly seemingly everywhere? Enter Haruka Ten'ô and Michiru Kaiô - two mysterious & intriguing characters who warn the senshi to stay away from the school if they know what's good for them. On the romance angle, this was a cute one for our main characters. Mamoru and Usagi had a lot of interaction between dealing with the jealousies over Michiru and Haruka's flirtations with their significant others, and in trying to spend time together while Chiba-Usa is around. Haruka seems almost as much drawn to Usagi as he is standoffish, just as Michiru is with Mamoru. Two new Sailor Senshi appear and they look eerily familiar to Usagi, but why are they attacking the other Senshi? Speaking of Sailor Senshi, someone we know all too well appears at the very last-minute.This is when I really have always felt the manga and anime both get really interesting, and having only experienced the (poorly) dubbed Sailor Moon anime and fan translations have really been waiting for. I've always loved the interaction between Haruka and Usagi and it's fun to see Usagi and the usually steady Mamoru get a little flustered.
I noticed that a lot of people have mentioned that they dislike these re-released versions of the manga, but I absolutely love it especially if you can't afford to buy the older versions. I love the new covers, but I would recommend buying the box set instead. I was buying them individually before I realized that they were coming out with a box set.
Since I was very young, I first discover about sailor moon books in library. Since then I am very big fan of Sailor moon. Unable to find it in old version books. I never thought they will reprint it in lot better way, with extra few colored pictures. That I appreciate very much. They are so beautiful artwork.
When I saw this waiting in my mail box I squealed XD Overall, it shows Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune being introduced making Sailor Moon and her senshi question if there are other senshi out there in the universe. We see Chibi-Usa being introduced to (in the near future) Sailor Saturn. When I was little they never showed Sailor Moon R or Sailor Moon S, so when I read this manga I was all like "Oooh, that makes nore sense!" My most favorite part thorough out this manga was when Usagi asks Haruka if she was a guy or a girl and Haruka said if it mattered to her. It made me laugh!
Arrived on time and as described! My daughter loves this series as much as I did at her age!
Sailor Moon is something that I grew up with as a little girl and it was/is an unforgettable series. Knowing that it has basically been 'brought back to life' brings joy to my heart knowing that consumers of a new generation will be able to enjoy what I was able to enjoy growing up. A fantastic series worth investing in ;D
